AI Ethics and Governance

Governing AI well is less a technology problem than a judgment problem — the organisational culture, principles, and human oversight that make responsible AI decisions possible, not a policy that exists separately from how decisions actually get made.

What does it actually mean for an AI system to be trustworthy?

Most AI governance defaults to checklists, because checklists are easier to build than judgment. But fairness, accountability, and human oversight aren't boxes a system either ticks or doesn't — they're questions an organisation has to keep asking, case by case, as the technology and how it's used keeps changing underneath it.

A framework that can't be reasoned with in a genuinely ambiguous case isn't governance. It's paperwork that happens to mention AI.

Built on direct participation in AI governance standards

Our approach is grounded in direct participation in the bodies shaping how AI is governed, not just interpretation of it after the fact. That includes work through Nasscom AI on responsible AI practices for startups and enterprises, contribution to ForHumanity's AI audit and governance frameworks assessing systems against fairness, accountability, transparency and human rights, and participation in India's TEC Fairness Working Group and the MeitY committee drafting the country's AI Risk Management Framework.

What this covers

The specifics differ by sector, system and use case, but the shape of the work is consistent.

Responsible AI Culture

Governance that lives in how decisions actually get made, not in a policy binder nobody reads.

Fairness, Accountability & Human Rights Assessment

Systems assessed against real-world outcomes for the people they affect, not just technical fairness metrics.

Human Oversight Design

Meaningful review built into the points where it can actually change an outcome, not a rubber stamp at the end.

Agentic AI & Emerging Risk

Autonomous agents raise governance questions faster than most frameworks can answer them. We help you keep pace.

Manipulative Design & Dark Pattern Review

Interfaces and prompts assessed for whether they nudge users fairly or exploit them.

Standards & Regulatory Engagement

Direct participation in the bodies shaping AI governance standards, not just interpretation after the fact.
